The Colt LE6940 is a semi-automatic carbine chambered in 5.56 NATO, distinguished by its one piece monolithic upper receiver that integrates the upper receiver and free floating quad rail handguard into a single machined aluminum unit. This design eliminates the joint between a conventional upper receiver and a bolt on rail system, providing a continuous and rigid platform for mounting optics and accessories with no shift in zero. The LE6940 uses a direct impingement gas system with a carbine length gas tube and a rotating bolt. The monolithic upper incorporates a folding front sight at the gas block, allowing the sight to be stowed flat when not in use to provide an unobstructed sight picture for mounted optics.

This example is configured with a Colt Super Stoc buttstock, Tango Down Battle Grip pistol grip, and a Geissele two stage trigger. The bolt carrier group features a C marked full auto bolt carrier, and the lower receiver is equipped with an ambidextrous safety selector and an H buffer in the buffer tube.
