Colt Combat Commander .45 ACP, Satin Nickel, MFG 1980
The Colt Combat Commander is a compact semi automatic pistol based on the Government Model 1911 platform. Introduced in 1970, the Combat Commander uses a steel frame paired with a 4.25 inch barrel, distinguishing it from the alloy framed Commander introduced in 1950 and the full size 5 inch Government Model. The pistol operates on a short recoil, locked breech system with a Browning tilting barrel design and uses a single action trigger with a frame mounted thumb safety and grip safety. The Combat Commander was produced as a lighter carry alternative to the Government Model while maintaining the durability and recoil characteristics of a steel frame, and it was offered in .45 ACP, 9mm, and .38 Super.
This example was manufactured in 1980 and is finished in satin nickel plating on the frame, slide, and small parts including the ring hammer, slide release, and safety lever. The trigger is black. The factory sights have been replaced with MMC front and rear sights. The pistol is fitted with checkered walnut grips with Colt medallion inlays. Accompanied by two 7 round magazines, no original box.
