The Browning Maxus is a gas-operated semi-automatic shotgun introduced by Browning in 2009, built around the Power Drive Gas System. This system uses a piston and valve assembly surrounding the magazine tube that self-regulates gas pressure, cycling a wide range of loads from light target rounds through heavy magnum shells without manual adjustment. Excess gas is vented forward to reduce felt recoil. The Maxus is constructed on an aluminum alloy receiver with a large ejection port and a speed loading gate that allows a round to be fed directly onto the bolt carrier. The bolt features a full length guide rail for smooth cycling and a rotating bolt head that locks into the barrel extension. The Maxus Hunter is a field variant featuring a nickel finished receiver with game bird engravings, a blued barrel with a ventilated rib, and a gloss finished walnut stock and forend with cut checkering. The shotgun uses Browning's Invector Plus choke tube system and features a Lightning Trigger with a speed lock firing pin mechanism for faster lock time. The Inflex Technology recoil pad is designed to redirect recoil downward and away from the shooter's cheek.

This example is chambered in 12 gauge and is fitted with a 28 inch blued barrel. The nickel finished receiver features duck engraving on the left side and pheasant engraving on the right side. An Improved Cylinder (4 notch) choke tube is installed. The length of pull measures 14.25 inches. Accompanied by original box with additional Improved Cylinder and Modified Invector Plus choke tubes and a butt pad spacer.
