Browning Hi-Power 9mm, T-Series, Manufactured 1964

The Browning Hi-Power is a single action, semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm, designed by John Moses Browning and finalized by Dieudonné Saive at Fabrique Nationale (FN) in Herstal, Belgium. Introduced in 1935, the Hi-Power was one of the first high capacity military sidearms, employing a 13-round double stack magazine that represented a significant advancement over the single stack designs that preceded it. The pistol operates on a short recoil, locked breech system using a cam lug beneath the barrel to disengage the barrel from the slide during the recoil cycle. The Hi-Power uses a frame mounted thumb safety and a magazine disconnect safety that prevents the pistol from firing when the magazine is removed. The T-Series prefix designates Belgian production by FN during the early to mid 1960s, a period during which the Hi-Power was manufactured with a forged steel frame and slide, polished deep blue finish, and the classic pattern Hi-Power design. T-Series pistols from this era feature the smaller, ring-style hammer that was standard prior to the later adoption of the spur hammer design.

This example is serial T134080, manufactured in the first year of the T-series serial adoption, 1964. It features a deep blued finish on the forged steel frame and slide, a ring hammer, checkered wood grips, and standard fixed iron sights. Accompanied by one magazine, no original box or accessories included.
