Browning/Sako High Power Safari Grade .243 Winchester, 22.5 Inch Barrel, Made in Finland

The Browning High Power is a bolt action sporting rifle that paired Sako manufactured barreled actions from Finland with Browning designed stocks and trim. Finnish produced Browning High Power rifles utilized Sako actions sized to the cartridge, with short action cartridges such as .243 Winchester built on the Sako L579 medium length action. The L579 is a push feed design with a recessed bolt face, plunger ejector, and a sliding plate extractor. The Safari Grade is distinguished within Browning's tiered High Power grade structure by its engraved trigger guard and floorplate assembly. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting. Browning sourced barreled actions from Sako for the High Power line beginning approximately in the early 1960s, replacing the earlier FN Herstal manufactured actions.

This example is chambered in .243 Winchester and features a 22.5 inch barrel marked "Made in Finland", indicating Sako manufacture of the barreled action. The trigger guard and floorplate are engraved. The rifle is fitted with a walnut Monte Carlo stock with cut checkering and features a hooded front sight, with no rear sight present. No additional accessories included.
