The Browning BLR (Browning Lever Rifle) is a lever action rifle that departs significantly from traditional lever action designs. Originally introduced in 1971, the BLR platform features a rotating bolt head with multiple locking lugs that engage the barrel extension, providing the strength and lockup geometry necessary to safely chamber modern high pressure cartridges including belted magnums. This design also permits the use of pointed spitzer bullets, as the BLR feeds from a detachable box magazine rather than a tubular magazine. The trigger and trigger guard travel with the lever during cycling, a characteristic of the BLR platform. The BLR Lightning features a machined aluminum alloy receiver.

This example is chambered in 7mm-08 Remington with a 20 inch blued barrel. The 7mm-08 Remington is a versatile cartridge based on the .308 Winchester case necked down to accept .284 caliber bullets, offering flat trajectory and moderate recoil well suited to a lightweight lever action platform. The rifle is fitted with a high gloss walnut pistol grip stock and forend, both with cut checkering. Sights consist of a blade front sight and an adjustable rear sight. The aluminum alloy receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting. No original box or accessories included.
