Beretta 86 .380 ACP, Tip-Up Barrel, Made in Italy
The Beretta Model 86 is a single/double action semi automatic pistol chambered in .380 ACP (9mm Short), produced by Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta in Gardone Val Trompia, Italy. The Model 86 is built on Beretta's Cheetah series platform and shares its general dimensions and controls with the Model 84 and Model 85, but is distinguished by its tip-up barrel mechanism. The barrel is hinged at the front of the frame and can be released via a lever on the left side of the frame, allowing the barrel to pivot upward at the breech end. This permits the shooter to load a round directly into the chamber without manipulating the slide. The pistol operates on a straight blowback action and uses an open top slide design characteristic of Beretta pistols. The fire control system is DA/SA with a frame mounted manual safety. The Model 86 uses a single stack magazine.
This example was manufactured in Italy in 1992, as indicated by the BB date code. The pistol features a blued carbon steel barrel and slide paired with an anodized aluminum alloy frame. It is fitted with checkered wood grips bearing Pietro Beretta medallions. Accompanied by two 8-round magazines and original box.
